  17. The complete product consists of the following five files: (WSOS21.EXE)
  18. contains the installation program, (WSOS22.EXE) contains the requester and
  19. RIPL files, (WSDRV1.EXE) contains the LAN drivers, (OS2UT1.EXE) contains
  20. LOGIN, NLIST, MAP, CX, SYSCON utilities, and (OS2DC1.EXE) contains the
  21. electronic documentation in OS/2 IPF format.

  33.      This product contains the following enhancements:

  42.      The NetWare Client version 2.1 for OS/2 electronic documentation is now
  43.      available in native OS/2 format.  Because the native OS/2 formatting does
  44.      not require much disk space, the documentation is now available as a
  45.      standard part of the client kit download rather than as a separate
  46.      download from NetWire.

  78.      NetWare Client 2.1 for OS/2.  This client product supports all OS/2 2.x
  79.      releases made before April 15, 1994 and replaces all previous 2.x
  80.      versions of the NetWare Client for OS/2.

  82.      NOTE: If you have OS/2 1.3, you need to obtain the NetWare Requester 1.3
  83.      for OS/2 instead of this product.

  85.      INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS for the NetWare Client 2.1 for OS/2
  86.  
  87.      The NetWare Client 2.1 for OS/2 consists of five self-extracting files:
  88.  
  89.      WSOS21.EXE contains the installation program.
  90.      WSOS22.EXE contains the requester and RIPL files.
  91.      WSDRV1.EXE contains the LAN drivers.
  92.      OS2UT1.EXE contains LOGIN, NLIST, MAP, CX, SYSCON utilities.
  93.      OS2DC1.EXE contains the electronic documentation in OS/2 IPF format.

  96.      After these files are downloaded, there are three methods that can be
  97.      used to complete the installation of the NetWare Client 2.1 for OS/2:
  98.  
  99.      Method 1: Extract to Network Drive/Install from Network Drive
  100.  
  101.      Method 2: Extract to Diskettes/Install From Diskettes  
  102.  
  103.      Method 3: Extract to Hard Disk/Make Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  104.  
  105.      Instructions for each method follow.

  108.      Method 1: Extract to Network Drive/Install from Network Drive
  109.  
  110.      NOTE: You must have a version of the Netware Client already installed on
  111.      your workstation and be connected to the Network to use this INSTALL
  112.      method.  You cannot install to and from the same drive.
  113.  
  114.      Example:
  115.  
  116.      You cannot install from C: to C:
  117.  
  118.      1.   To install the NetWare Client to your hard disk, you must have
  119.           adequate disk space to allow for the client to install (about 4 MB).
  120.  
  121.      2.   At the Network drive, create a directory called TEMP.  This
  122.           directory can be deleted later.
  123.  
  124.           Example:  At the J:\ prompt, type the following command:
  125.  
  126.                     MD TEMP
  127.  
  128.      3.   Extract WSOS21.EXE, WSOS22.EXE, WSDRV1.EXE, OS2UT1.EXE, and 
  129.           OS2DC1.EXE into the TEMP directory using the -d option to create the
  130.           required subdirectories.
  131.  
  132.           Example:  At the command line, type the following command:
  133.  
  134.                     WSOS21 -d J:\TEMP
  135.  
  136.      4.   In an OS/2 Command Line Session, CD into the TEMP directory and type
  137.           INSTALL.  The NetWare Client for OS/2 Installation screen will
  138.           appear.
  139.  
  140.           Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to install the
  141.           NetWare Requester on the workstation.
  142.  
  143.           NOTE: Make sure and place the local disk drive letter as the target
  144.           directory.
  145.  
  146.      5.   Delete your TEMP directory if desired.

  150.      Method 2: Extract to Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  151.  
  152.      1.   Format 5 3.5" high density double-sided diskettes.
  153.  
  154.      2.   Label each diskette with the following names:
  155.           Disk 1    WSOS2_1
  156.           Disk 2    WSOS2_2
  157.           Disk 3    WSDRV_1
  158.           Disk 4    OS2UTIL_1
  159.           Disk 5    OS2DOC_1
  160.  
  161.           Example:  At the command line, type the following command:
  162.  
  163.                     Label A: WSOS2_1
  164.  
  165.      3.   Extract the .EXE files to their corresponding diskettes using the -d
  166.           option. WSOS21.EXE into WSOS2_1, WSOS22.EXE into WSOS2_2, etc.
  167.  
  168.           The -d option will create the required subdirectory structure and
  169.           will allow the INSTALL program to run correctly.
  170.  
  171.           Example:  At the command line, type the following command:
  172.  
  173.                          WSOS21 -d A:
  174.  
  175.      4.   After creating the five diskettes, insert WSOS2_1 diskette in drive
  176.           A.
  177.  
  178.      5.   Open the drive A: icon on your desktop and open the INSTALL.EXE
  179.           program.

  181.      The NetWare Client for OS/2 install screen appears.
  182.  
  183.      6.   Follow the instructions on the screen or in the manual to complete
  184.           the install.

  187.      Method 3: Extract to Hard Disk/Make Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  188.  
  189.      1.   Create the following subdirectories on your hard disk:
  190.  
  191.           WSOS2_1, WSOS2_2, and WSDRV_1, OS2UT_1, and OS2DC_1
  192.  
  193.           Example:  At the C:\ prompt, type the following command:
  194.  
  195.                          MD WSOS2_1
  196.  
  197.      2.   Extract the .EXE files into their corresponding subdirectories using
  198.           the -d option.  WSOS21.EXE into WSOS2_1, WSOS22.EXE into WSOS2_2,
  199.           and so forth.

  201.           Example:  At the command line, type the following command:
  202.  
  203.                     WSOS21 -d C:\WSOS2_1
  204.  
  205.      3.   Format 5 3.5" high density double-sided diskettes.
  206.  
  207.      4.   Label each diskette with the following names:
  208.  
  209.           Disk 1    WSOS2_1
  210.           Disk 2    WSOS2_2
  211.           Disk 3    WSDRV_1
  212.           Disk 4    OS2UTIL_1
  213.           Disk 5    OS2DOC_1

  215.           Example:  At the command line, type the following command:

  217.                     Label A: WSOS2_1
  218.  
  219.      5.   Insert diskette labelled WSOS2_1 into drive A:.
  220.  
  221.      6.   Change directory to WSOS2_1 on your hard disk.

  223.      7.   Type the following at the command line:

  225.                XCOPY *.* /S /E /V A:
  226.  
  227.      8.   Repeat steps 6 and 7 for the remaining 4 diskettes. Ensure that the
  228.           files are copied from the correct directory to the corresponding
  229.           labelled diskettes.

  231.      9.   After creating the 5 diskettes, insert WSOS2_1 diskette in drive A.
  232.  
  233.      10.  Open the drive A: icon on your desktop and open the INSTALL.EXE
  234.           program. The NetWare Client for OS/2 install screen appears.

  236.      11.  Follow the instructions on the screen or in the manual to complete
  237.           the install.
